iPhone 7 rumours
When will it go on sale?
If Apple sticks to the usual schedule then the iPhone 7 will be on sale in September this year. There is talk from good sources that the launch date this year might be brought forward but we still think September is the most likely month for the launch.
Will there be changes to the design?
Very likely yes. There wasn’t a great deal of change from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 6s and usually the big change happens when the number changes. Apple have been going through a tricky time of late so they will be doing everything they can to make sure the iPhone 7 sells in big numbers.
The first rumour about the design is that it will be even slimmer than the iPhone 6s, some bloggers reckon it could be as much as 6mm thinner. They won’t want the battery life to suffer so if they do go thinner they will need some smaller more efficient technology inside the phone. Making the new iPhone 7 slimmer could also mean they have to get rid of the headphone jack. This would be quite a move to make and would have all sorts of implications, we are not convinced about this.
One rumour we do believe is that Apple will bring the world a phone that is waterproof and dustproof. This is something that Samsung and others already have so it’s about time Apple caught up in our opinion.
What about the screen?
There is some talk that the screen and therefore the phone will increase in size but most sites in the know think Apple will stick with the same size as the iPhone 6s for now. More likely is that the resolution of the screen will increase, there might even be some protection added so if you drop the phone bumpers around the screen hit the floor first. We’re not quite sure how this will work especially if Apple are looking to slim down the phone, this change is unlikely.
Other possible changes?
Those in the know reckon the megapixels won’t go up in the camera but there will be some other features added to the camera such as optical zoom, image stabilization and other clever camera type stuff.
We’ve read in a few places that the iPhone 7 could well have a hexacore A10 chip which will increase performance massively. The home button might well be changing and could end up being more of a sensor than a button. It’s probably going to be pressure sensitive so different things will happen depending how hard you press the sensor/ button.
How much will it cost?
Most websites think the pricing will be very similar to the iPhone 6s pricing, which is as follows (sim free):
iPhone 6s 16gb – £539
iPhone 6s 64gb – £619
iPhone 6s 128gb – £699
iPhone 6s Plus 16gb – £619
iPhone 6s Plus 64gb – £699
iPhone 6s Plus 128gb – £789
